Be Inspired: How to Make Consistency Equal Excellence – Written By Maryam Otsokwa
Consistency as many have been made to believe over the years is the bedrock for excellence, impeccable result, and fantastic output.
Here are few thoughts and questions to consider:
You have been singing for long but how well have you been singing?
You have been drumming for long but how well have you been drumming?
You have been a teacher for long but how well have you been teaching?
You have been a radio presenter for long but how well have you been presenting?
You have been a cook for long but how well have you been cooking?
You have been a farmer for long but how well have you been farming?
You have been a Christian for long but how well have you practiced Christianity?
You have been a pilot for long but how well have you been flying?
You have been serving God for long but how well have you been serving?
You have been a medical doctor for long but how well have you been practicing?
A lot of times, people tend to want to equate their successes to how long they have been at a thing. You being consistent in a practice for a long time, does not equate to being excellent. The best that can be associated with your years on such practice is Experience, and neither experience nor consistency assures excellence.
Consistency without innovation, improvement and expertise would tend to frustration. Staying long on a job, career or enterprise does not and cannot make you a pro at it.
It is very important to constantly work at improving oneself, enhancing and sharpening ones skill, widening ones horizon of knowledge and undertaking new tasks in order to be successful at whatever endeavour undertaken.
Some people complain and say that they have spent 20 years in church and have seen no reward. Staying long is not as important as doing the things required for advancement and uplifting.
Only those that work hard and smart enough are ever promoted in an organization. It is also known that what you give into something determines to an extent, what you get out of it.
Refuse to be categorized with those who count the time spent at something, rather conjoin those who celebrate improvement, enlargement and successes that they derive from consistent excellence.
No one is born a mediocre, the odds are not against you – the only limitation is yourself.
Shake yourself off the dust of counting time and seek to be a value adding person anywhere you are, then watch how your life will turnaround for good.
Never forget – It is not how long but how well!
