[Artiste Spotlight] The Okey Sokay Story: Where Music Meets Inspiration
Okey Sokay is a Nigerian gospel artiste, songwriter, producer, and audio engineer. He was born Okechukwu Onya Dickson and began his musical journey at a young age, performing with the children’s choir and playing the drums.
Despite pursuing a degree in software engineering, his passion for music led him to make a significant impact with his debut single “Soke”. He has since become one of Nigeria’s most influential gospel musicians, known for his inspiring lyrics and captivating melodies.
As a multifaceted artist, Okey Sokay is gifted in singing, instrumentation, songwriting, production, and audio engineering. He has released an EP and an album, showcasing his diverse talents, and has collaborated with prominent artists both in Nigeria and internationally. Recent notable releases and songs include “Talk N Do” (2024) and “Done Do Much” (2023).

Additionally, Okey Sokay is behind the Oyelplanet initiative, which is hosting a major event on November 17, 2024, at Regal Hall, Lagos. This event is expected to be a significant milestone in his career and the gospel music scene.
