Cameroonian gospel singer, TelDebbie releases her debut single titled “What The Lord Has Said.”
As a child, it was not uncommon to catch TelDebbie climbing on cupboards or chairs, holding an object as a microphone, and singing at the top of her voice.
This act was seen as worldliness to her strict born-again parents, thus earning her some scolding. Among her peers, she was often tagged as “mami” because she sang songs that were not considered as real songs since no one knew them.
At age 9, her siblings laughed at a song she formed such that she decided not to sing those unreal songs that came to her mind. Little did she know that was a gift and a talent.
She stopped composing songs but continued through secondary education, remixing other people’s songs to give that feeling she held inside of her. She was a member of an all-girls group in high school where performed on and off campus.
Being an educationist, TelDebbie would turn challenging topics, concepts, or formulas into a song. This earned her the title “success story maker” as every child she taught made it big. Children with learning disabilities found learning fun with her.
She has written many school songs, anthems as well as gospel songs. Mbotake Christian, a recording engineer, challenged her to do a gospel single.
She immediately bought the idea, and TelDebbie shares her first official gospel song, “What The Lord Has Said.”
