Jerusalem: Isrealis killed as attackers ambush bus
Three Israelis have been killed and more than 20 injured in shooting and stabbing attacks in Jerusalem and central Israel. Two were killed when two assailants, who were identified as Arabs, shot and stabbed passengers on a bus in Jerusalem before being shot by police.
Several attackers and at least 17 other Palestinians have been killed in the upsurge of violence.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency session of the security cabinet to discuss how to prevent further attacks.

Syria conflict: Shells hit Russian Embassy compound
Two shells have struck the Russian embassy compound in the Syrian capital Damascus as hundreds of pro-government supporters rallied outside in support of Russian air strikes.
No-one was killed but a BBC Arabic correspondent in Damascus says some people were injured.
The explosions triggered widespread panic and smoke was seen coming from the embassy compound.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described it as “a terrorist attack”.

Mexico Ex- Governor Fernando Moreno injured in attack
Gunmen in Mexico have attacked the former governor of the western state of Colima.
Fernando Moreno Pena, who governed Colima from 1997 to 2003, was having breakfast in a restaurant in the state capital when two gunmen opened fire.
Mr Moreno Pena was hit six times but doctors said his injuries were not life-threatening.Police are searching for the suspects.Police have been posted at the hospital where he is being treated.

Update on the MH17 Ukraine disaster: Dutch report blames missile
Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 crashed as a result of a Russian-made Buk missile, the Dutch Safety Board says.
The missile hit the front left of the plane causing other parts break off, it said in a final report into the July 2014 disaster, which killed 298 people.
The West and Ukraine say Russian-backed rebels brought down the Boeing 777, but Russia blames Ukrainian forces.
The report does not say who fired the missile, but says airspace over eastern Ukraine should have been closed.

India Police arrests six Shiv Sena workers over Mumbia ink attack
Police in India’s Mumbai city say they have held six members of a Hindu right-wing group for dousing the head of a think-tank in black ink.
The Shiv Sena party inked Sudheendra Kulkarni on Monday. Mr Kulkarni was organising the launch of a book by former Pakistani foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri.
The party described the ink attack as a “peaceful protest” against Pakistan.
It later cancelled a planned protest at the launch of the book.

Pakistan landslide kills 13 in Karachi
A rare rockslide in Pakistan’s city of Karachi has hit several makeshift homes, killing 13 people including seven children, officials say.
The landslide struck early on Tuesday, burying homes in Gulistan Johar district under a mass of rock and mud.
Rescue workers are using mechanical tools to clear the rubble.
Police and officials are investigating the cause of the landslip, including the possibility of sabotage by land grabbers.

Zimbabwe says no charges will pressed against Walter Palmer on the killing of Cecil the Lion
The US dentist who sparked an international outcry after killing a lion in Zimbabwe will not be prosecuted because he had obtained the legal authority to hunt, officials say.
Walter Palmer admitted to killing Cecil the lion in July but has always denied that he acted illegally.
Zimbabwe’s Environment Minister Oppah Muchinguri said he could not be charged as all his “papers were in order”..
Mrs Muchinguri said Zimbabwe would now review how it issues hunting licences.

Egypt court orders release of Hosni Mubarak’s sons
A court has ordered the release of the two sons of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, taking into account they have completed their three-year sentences on corruption convictions.
The brothers are expected to walk free later today or tomorrow after the Cairo Criminal Court announced its verdict in the multimillion-dollar embezzlement case on Monday.
Alaa and Gamal Mubarak were convicted of embezzling state funds allocated for the renovation of Egypt’s presidential palaces.
The brothers still face trial on insider trading charges, however, with the next hearing.

Rugby: World cup Man- of- the- match process set for overhaul
A string of embarrassing ‘anomalies’ in picking the man of the match in Rugby World Cup pool games has led organisers to consider overhauling the selection process for the knockout stages, according to a media report.
Under the existing system, three players are short-listed by the tournament’s world feed radio early in the second half before fans vote for their choice on social media, a process tournament director Alan Gilpin admits has resulted in a number of ‘challenges’.
10. Ronaldo wins record fourth Golden shoe award
Cristiano Ronaldo has received a record fourth Golden Boot award after leading all scorers in Europe’s domestic leagues last season.
Ronaldo scored 48 goals in 35 Spanish league games to claim his third Golden Boot playing for Real Madrid.
His other award came with Manchester United in 2007-08. No other player has won four.
Ronaldo was accompanied at the gala by his mother, his son, Madrid coach Rafa Benitez, club president Florentino Perez and the Portuguese ambassador to Spain.
