Charity is the scope of all God’s commands.
Charity sees the need, not the cause.
Charity is injurious and hurtful unless it helps the recipient to become independent of it. The proper aim of giving is to put the recipient in a state where he no longer needs our gift.
As for charity, it is a matter in which the immediate effect on the persons concerned, and the ultimate publicity of the philanthropist, are apt to be at complete war with one another. To give to someone without thoughts or expectations of receiving,is a noble thing to do.But to think you deserve to receive in return is less rewarding than what you give in the first place.
Teach us to give and not count the cost.
Should we grieve over a little misplaced charity, when an all knowing, all wise Being showers down every day his benefits on the unthankful and undeserving?
