I SAW AN ANGEL

(Ministry of the Angels)

          For those that sometimes desire to see heavenly things often give priority to seeing Angels. I want to believe that Angels are easier to see than God himself, maybe that is why we want to see them. I also desire to see Angels but I prefer to be with God than Angels. The bible, quoted from one of the books of Moses has made us to understand that no man has seen God and other scriptures confirmed that no man can see God.

On this occasion, we shall take a look into the life of Joseph, the adopted father of the child Jesus. The birth of baby Jesus provoked a certain king to kill him at birth and God; the Father of Jesus had to intervene, thereby, Joseph the adopted father of Jesus and even Mary began to receive visitation from an Angel. Different from these patriarchs, there were other bible legends that saw Angels. The likes of the Parents of Samson; Manoah his father, Gideon, Peter and Jesus.

Why Angels

What is the purpose of Angels?

Hebrews 1:7 ‘And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits…

Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministry spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Now, from that part of the bible, we have seen one of the purposes of angels. Let’s see more from the bible, Psalm and the book of Revelation especially gave us exemplary insights into what angels are meant for. Although, Angels are meant to carry out specific instructions and orders from God who is their Chief commander and even knows them by name.

Psalm 91: 11-12 “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.”

From this scripture, we can tell and say that we have a clearer look into one of the several responsibility God has given to Angels over mankind regardless of their believe which is to protect and guide man because God is the owner of all humanity no matter their religion but we know that only sons of God (those that acknowledge Jesus to be their God) will abide will God eternally.

The book of Revelation defined several Acts of Angels especially during the end time, the end of all things that are present.

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John…

But we can’t dwell on the book of Revelation if we want to hit the main context of this write up.

Let’s go straight to Joseph, the adopted Father of Jesus and the role he played in saving baby Jesus through the help of Angels.

Reading through the gospel of Matthew 1:18-25, we see that Joseph and Mary were engaged and were ready to get married, after obeying all traditional law of not getting pregnant before marriage. It was a taboo then and now. First the Angel met with Mary and told her what will become of her in the next few months which will make a mark on her life for the rest of eternity. The Angel had told her that God had ordained her to birth Jesus. She believed and began to carry baby Jesus but her espoused husband had a lot to worry about. Even if he believed that the Holy Ghost was responsible for the pregnancy his fiancé was carrying, he sure didn’t know what to do.

See this; Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.  But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:19-21

After this download of information, he Joseph began to know how much responsibility God had also given him as well combined with that of Mary. I am sure he felt strange but there’s more…
