Popular South African artiste and music producer, Johnross Jamela Vuma now known as JRoss drops a new song and video titled “Come Like A Fire.”
The secular crossover gospel artiste shares, “As a secular musician, in the Kwaito scene, I lived a life consumed by drugs and alcohol, a lifestyle that didn’t reflect the love for my family, for people and my God-given talent. I broke from the bondage of this lifestyle by turning to God’s word. My ultimate mission is to inspire, encourage and empower, by channelling a Higher Source through Gospel music.”
The journey into Gospel has seen JRoss pick up nominations and awards on a global scale, scoring five international nominations. In 2020 he walked away a proud (international artiste of the year) winner of the Texas Gospel Music of Excellence Awards in the USA for the song “Holy Spirit” as well as the (Media choice of the year) of the Gospel Touch Music Awards in the UK for the song “Overwhelmed by Your Grace.”
His album, Scrolls, released in July 2021, with tracks that include, “Bawo Thixo,” “River of Life” and “Mpilo Yami,” has earned him three nominations for the Gospel Choice Music Awards in Atlanta USA in the same year (2021).
As a musician that can transcend genres, his artistry has also seen him awarded locally, winning a South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) for the best original score for the Female Prison TV Drama Lockdown.
