THANKSGIVING IS A LIFESTYLE

Yet another week, yet another Day, a New Sun to experience, a New Traffic to be engaged in, New faces to meet, new challenges to conquer, everything is new. I know the book of the Preacher, Ecclesiastes 1:9b said, ‘and there is no new thing under the sun.’ King Solomon proved that there is nothing new under the Sun. He gave metaphoric expressions and examples of the events and inventions that man had made under the sun and concluded that there is no new thing under the sun. Looking at the world today, especially in the Industry of Technology, everyday, something new is created or the old ones are built into a more advanced design. This was the exact figurative speech of King Solomon which he expressed in his documentary, the book of Ecclesiastes 1:9. “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun”.
With this ideology, he concluded that no technology, no social invention, no thoughts, no challenge nor quote will be new under the sun because there is a preeminence catalogue in the realm of the spirit which is always manifested physically.
According to his facts, of which logically, it is true, there is nothing expressly new under the sun but giving thanks sets a difference.
To give thanks to God for whom He is; that is a new thing. You might not agree with me but it is the truth. The four popular beasts or creatures in heaven and the famous twenty four elders that are seated around the throne of God, give thanks to God and worship God. Why?
God always does something new. Everytime He does it, the twenty four elders see what He has done, noting, that it is beautiful and they give thanks.
Revelation 4:8-11, “And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Till date, God still creates new things, and it is ever new under the sun, even in heaven. He had created the Heaven and Earth as recorded by Genesis 1:1 but the Arch Angel that fell, Lucifer, the same as the Devil and one quarter of the angels that agreed with him to rebel against God, destroyed what God had made John 10:10B, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…”
Our ungrateful or unthankful attitude which we express towards ourselves, others and God is what has blinded our eyes to see the new things God had done. Ungratefulness is a Sin, “For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy…”
Unthankful and Ungratefulness are alike defined; it is an attribute of one who disregards work or favor done on his behalf.
To say there is nothing new under the sun means you are not grateful for things done in the past, you can never see what is being done in the present and to attempt to see what God intends to do for you in the future will suicide.
Thanksgiving is a Lifestyle and not a necessity or a part of a principle of receiving a blessing from God. We think thanksgiving is a bribe God receives to bless us. We think it is a special song that we sing unto God, we think if we do it in church that God will have compassion on us.
Thanksgiving is not any of these, if it is a lifestyle then we must inculcate the habit of placing our thoughts in a state of gratefulness.
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians4:8.
Change your thoughts to change your life, let your thoughts appreciate God, not just for your needs but for whom God is. He is more than sufficient to provide for your needs.
