Arsenal has been drawn against former Italian giants AC Milan for the round of 16 in Europa League. The Gunners qualified for that stage despite losing 2-1 to Swedish minnows Ostersunds FK on Thursday but won the first away leg 3-0 making it 4-2 on aggregate.
The English side were the last team to be drawn from the pot on Friday afternoon, which means they will be the visitors in the first leg of their tie and will now travel to San Siro in Italy for the first leg on March 8, while Milan will travel to London for the return match just a week later on March 15.
Wenger said his team “had no ideas with the ball” after they lost 2-1 at home to a side that were founded in 1996 and have risen from Sweden’s fourth tier in seven years under English manager Graham Potter.
Arsenal’s most recent European meeting with AC Milan saw them exit the competition with a 4-3 loss on aggregate in the 2011-2012 edition of the Champions League after a 4-0 win by AC Milan in the first leg and The Gunners later winning 3-0 in the Second leg in London to crash out of the tournament.
Arsenal’s best hope of qualifying for the Champion’s League next season will be to win the Europa League this season as they currently occupy sixth position on Premier League table and a gap of 6 points between them and Chelsea who sits fourth on the table
